October 19, 6:00 PM - November 30, 5:30 PM @ Offsite Gallery @ World Trade Center
Join us at the Offsite Gallery for an opening Oct. 19th, 6-8pm.
Influenced by the trichotomy of visual form introduced by Paul Klee in his idiosyncratic Pedagogical Sketchbook, John Rudel (Batten Associate Professor of Art & Curator of Exhibitions at Virginia Wesleyan) creates layers & patterns that force the viewer to leave areas out of focus to identify individual elements. A continual shift of focus & perception creates countless tiny impulse based experiences of visual reconnections. John worked with the City's public art program to create "Eyes" for the MacArthur North Garage. His "Towers" greet you at the entrance to the NEON District & you can also see his etched design "Play Ball" on the windscreens at the Harbor Park light rail station. Don't miss seeing his most recent mixed media paintings that have evolved over time with lots of reflection & often a series of changes involving the continual addition & removal of elements.
