  2. MacArthur Memorial 3rd Annual Military History Film Festival

    August 9, 7:00 PM - October 31, 9:00 PM @ The MacArthur Memorial Visitors Center

    The MacArthur Memorial is hosting its third annual Military History Film Festival August – October 2018. To commemorate the World War I Centennial, the 2018 films will focus on the courage and sacrifice of American troops in World War I. The film festival will kick off on August 9, 2018. In partnership with the Military Aviation Museum of Virginia Beach, the MacArthur Memorial will screen The Millionaires' Unit (2015) (120 mins).The festival will continue with screenings of The Fighting 69th (1940) on September 13, 2018 and Sergeant York (1941) on October 4, 2018. All screenings will take place in the MacArthur Memorial Visitors Center Theatre at 7:00 PM. Admission is FREE but registration is requested.     This summer will be the third season of the Norfolk Nighthawks, a free recreation program that provides a safe space and enrichment opportunities for young people 18+ held each Friday and Saturday night, 9:30 p.m. – 12:00 a.m., during the summer. This year’s season expands from three to five locations in Norfolk, such as East Ocean View Community Center, which will host a new night fishing program for participants. 2018 will kick-off with an adult All-Star Basketball Game at Norview Community Center on June 29. Training such as computer coding and food handler’s certification, as well as fun activities like a hip hop dance class, will be at the various locations throughout the summer.
