  1. Offsite Gallery exhibition opening "Knotworks"

    December 7, 5:00 PM, 2018 - January 18, 2019, 5:00 PM @ Offsite Gallery, 1st Floor, World Trade Center

"Knotworks" is the most recent iteration of a 5-yr. collaboration between Cuba native Jorge Benitez, an Asst. Professor in the Communication Arts Dept. at VCU & Reni Gower, a Professor in the Painting & Printmaking Dept. at VCU. Through complex patterning & laborious processes, their works reveal the universal language of sacred geometry. Gower's work resonates with geometric constructs intrinsic to Islamic tilework motifs that reflect the mathematical & geometric basis of weaving. Whether woven, cut, or tied, "Knotworks" resonates with ancient observations, discoveries, & traditions consequential & far-reaching throughout the visual arts & the sciences.

  2. RED HERRING: The Little Theatre of Norfolk

January 11 - January 13 @ The Little Theatre of Norfolk

Three love stories, a murder mystery, and a nuclear espionage plot converge in this noir comedy about marriage and other explosive devices. It's 1952: America's on the verge of the H-bomb, Dwight Eisenhower's on the campaign trail, and I Love Lucy's on Monday nights. Meanwhile, Senator Joe McCarthy's daughter just got engaged to a Soviet Spy, and Boston detective Maggie Pelletier has to find out who dumped the dead guy in the Harbor - or else lose out on a honeymoon in Havana. A blunt-nosed, sharp-eyed look at love and tying (and untying, and retying) the knot. Red Herring is presented by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc., New York.
