Updated Release:
The Norfolk Police Traffic Fatality Team has identified this morning's accident victim as 24-year-old Chandler Ferguson of Suffolk, Virginia. The preliminary investigation revealed that Mr. Ferguson was traveling on his 2004 Yamaha motorcycle southbound on Hampton Boulevard shortly before 2:00 am. He then lost control of his motorcycle and ran into the eastside curb near the intersection of Hampton Boulevard and W. Princess Anne Road. After running off the roadway, the motorcycle struck a tree and Mr. Ferguson was pronounced shortly at the scene thereafter. The intersection was closed throughout the course of the investigation, but re-opened shortly after 6:00 a.m. for regular traffic patterns. Speed does appear to have played a factor in the accident; however, it is unknown if alcohol was involved at this time.

Previous Release:
Shortly before 2:00 am, police were called to the intersection of W. Princess Anne and Hampton Boulevard for a single vehicle accident involving a motorcyclist. Upon arrival police located a man who was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have identified the man, but are not releasing his name until they have notified his next of kin. The Norfolk Police Traffic Fatality Team is handling the investigation, which is still ongoing. At this time all traffic at that intersection will be re-routed until further notice.
