A Norfolk Crime Line tipster solves an aggravated malicious wounding case for Norfolk police.
Since late August, police have been searching for the man who was responsible for running over a woman around 1 p.m. near the 3700 block of Robin Hood Road.
An 18-year-old was talking with the driver when the man abruptly sped away while the woman was holding on the passenger side door handle. As she lost her grip, she was ran over by the rear tire.
On September 8th police released a photo of the suspect to the public.
Several weeks later, a caller contacted Norfolk Crime Line and provided a possible suspect name.
That tip led police to arrested 27-year-old Noval A. Gayle of Newport News on October 6th in Newport News without incident.
Gayle is currently being held in the Newport News City Jail, charged with one count of Aggravated Malicious Wounding.
There is no further information to release at this time.
