[ARCHIVED] Maryland man arrested for off-campus murder

The Norfolk Police Department has charged a man suspected in the off-campus murder of Keith Lendore.

Shortly before midnight on October 17, 2015, Norfolk Police and Old Dominion University Police Departments responded to shots being fired in the 1000 block of W. 37th Street. Upon arrival, police discovered three people with apparent gunshot wounds. Two of the victims sustained non-life threatening injuries and received treatment at an area hospital. Lendore suffered a fatal wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Norfolk detectives pursued all leads in the case, which led them to Washington County, Maryland. It was there detectives discovered 20-year-old Christian Williams-Rivera and his suspected involvement in the October 17th homicide.

Through the course of the investigation, Williams-Rivera charged with the following:

-2nd Degree Murder
-Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony (3 counts)
-Malicious Wounding (2 counts)

In a coordinated effort with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office (Maryland) and the Maryland State Police Apprehension Team, Williams-Rivera was arrested on October 27, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in Washington County, Maryland.

Williams-Rivera is currently being held in the Washington County Detention Center pending extradition to Virginia.
