[ARCHIVED] Body of missing Norfolk woman with dementia found in lake

NORFOLK, Va. – Detectives have confirmed that the body found in a lake Tuesday in the Poplar Hall section as 81-year-old Delcina Owens, who has been missing since New Year’s Day.

Shortly before 11:30 a.m., with the assistance of the Virginia Beach Police Department Helicopter Unit, her body was found in the 5400 block of Barnhollow Circle.

Ms. Owens, who had Alzheimer’s disease, disappeared from her home in the 5500 block of Poplar Hall Drive around 10 p.m. last Friday.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the exact cause of death.

No further information is available for release at this time.

Norfolk police, along with the Owens’ family need your help in finding 81-year-old Delcina Owens, who has been missing since Friday evening.

Delcina Owens has not been seen since 10:00 p.m. on New Years Day at her home in the 5500 block of Poplar Hall Drive. She was last seen wearing a pink pajama top, black and pink pants and tan boots. She is about 4 feet 6 inches tall, weighs around 105 pounds, and wears an identification bracelet.

Ms. Owens has Alzheimers’s Disease and walks with a cane.
