[ARCHIVED] Evening shooting turns to homicide investigation

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Norfolk police detectives continue their search for evidence after a woman was shot and killed late last evening.

Shortly before 11:30 p.m. Wednesday night, authorities at the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughter contacted emergency dispatchers.  CHKD personnel stated a woman came into the emergency room at 601 Children’s Lane suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.  The woman was pronounced dead shortly after her arrival.

Police located what appears to be a crime scene in the 2300 block of Barre Street, indicating the incident may have occurred in Norfolk.  Detectives classified the case as an active homicide investigation.

The woman’s identification will be withheld until her next of kin are properly notified.
