[ARCHIVED] Norfolk Police arrest commercial burglary suspects

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Detectives have arrested three men who are responsible for the recent string of convenient store burglaries that have taken place across Hampton Roads.

Since June 23, 2020, the men have broken into multiple convenient stores in Norfolk.

  • June 23, 2020, Seamart & Deli – 298 W Bay Avenue
  • June 28, 2020 and July 21, 2020, Quick Serve – 5714 Sellger Avenue
  • July 31, 2020, Tinee Giant – 123 W Ocean View Avenue

Surveillance footage showed the suspects used an object to smash-out the storefront glass and enter the business. Once inside the suspects would take items before exiting the store.

As a result of the investigation, Detectives have charged John Parker, 52, Leroy Pope, 51, and James E. Carter, 44, all of Norfolk, with the following: four counts each of commercial burglary and conspiracy, three counts each of grand larceny, and one count each of petit larceny.

All three men are also connected to commercial burglaries that have taken place in other local cities and are facing additional charges in those jurisdictions as well.

Parker, Pope, and Carter are currently being held in the Norfolk City Jail with no bond.
