Norfolk Honors Veterans in Special Video Tribute on Veterans Day

Annual city holiday also includes the closure of all city facilities.

NORFOLK, VA – The City’s annual Veterans Day ceremony will honor veterans in a special video tribute that will air on Veterans Day.  The virtual ceremony will feature the Old Dominion University U.S. Army ROTC Color Guard, 29th Division Band, a wreath-laying ceremony and special messages from Mayor Kenneth Cooper Alexander and members of the Norfolk Veterans Commission.   The video will also highlight city employees who served in the military and continue to proudly serve Norfolk residents every day.

The annual City holiday includes the closure of all city facilities, including the City Treasurer and Commissioner of the Revenue offices and the Norfolk Courthouse.

There are no changes in the trash and recycling collection schedule. Requests for bulk waste collection on Wednesday, November 11 and Thursday, November 12 must be made before 3 p.m. on Tuesday, November 10. To schedule bulk waste collection, call the Norfolk Cares Assistance Center at (757) 664-6510 or submit a service request via the MyNorfolk App.

Norfolk residents can drop-off unwanted e-waste on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, from 8 a.m. – noon at the Division of Towing and Recovery, 1188-A Lance Road.
