[ARCHIVED] Pedestrian dies following crash on N. Military Highway

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – A man has died after being struck by a vehicle on N. Military Highway Tuesday afternoon.

On November 23, 2021, around 5:30 p.m., police were called to the 500 block of N. Military Highway for the report of a vehicle accident involving a pedestrian. When Officers arrived, they found the pedestrian, later identified as Howard E. Covert, 70, of Norfolk, suffering from serious injuries. Covert was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene following the crash and was not injured.  

Investigators say that speed does not appear to be a contributing factor. Once the investigation is complete, the findings will be turned over to the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office for review.
