The Great American Cleanup is Underway in Norfolk

Keep Norfolk Beautiful offering events and tools to help

NORFOLK, VA – The Great American Cleanup is a three-month outreach program to raise awareness of environmental issues across the country through community service events. During this period, Keep Norfolk Beautiful (KNB) is hosting events designed to create a litter free city, neighborhoods and streets.

  • March 24: Lafayette Park Litter Kickoff, 10 a.m. – noon
  • March 25 – 26: Keep Norfolk Beautiful Days, Block by Block. Pick a day, time and activity.
  • March 25: Crossroads Elementary School, 9 a.m. – noon
  • April 22: Earth Day Event at Northside Park, 9 a.m. – noon

Find out more about each event and register online.

Additionally, residents can host their own cleanup event with the support of Keep Norfolk Beautiful by visiting www.norfolk.gov/knb or emailing knb@norfolk.gov. KNB provides training and supplies.

Unsure what should be recycled and what goes in the trash? KNB’s new Waste Wizard online tool makes it easy to figure out. Search any item, learn what goes in what bin and find locations for special waste drop-off.

Residents can also test their recycling skills with a fun interactive waste sorting game. Sort materials correctly and win fun items to build a digital park.

For other ways to get involved, visit www.norfolk.gov/knb.
