NORFOLK, VA – The City of Norfolk is making improvements to the Campostella Bridge. This rehabilitation project will address and repair major structural components and protect the bridge from deterioration. Construction will begin on Monday, Nov. 6.
Construction is scheduled Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Off-duty police and flaggers may assist with traffic. Motorists should expect alternating lane closures and intermittent traffic stoppages. Alternating lane closures and traffic shifts will remain in place 24/7. Traffic lanes approaching the bridge will taper and merge. The project is scheduled to be complete by December 2024.
The project will repair key structural deck components, install a new latex modified concrete overlay and apply weatherproofing to deck elements. The scope of work also includes structural repairs to expansion joints, curb, sidewalk and railings and new reflective lane marking
