Norfolk Aims to Win Annual Red Cross Mayor’s Cup Blood Drive
Give the gift of life for our mermaid’s 20th birthday!

NORFOLK, VA – Each year, the Mayor’s Cup blood drive of the American Red Cross pits seven Hampton Roads cities against each other to see which one can collect the most blood.

Norfolk has never won this competition… but that’s about to change.

Blood donations typically decrease during the summer months because school’s out and vacations start. But the need remains critical – right now, there’s a critical shortage of type O blood. Each June, the Mayor’s Cup competition encourages people to come out, donate, and support their city to win bragging rights and a traveling trophy. Our entire region wins by boosting the blood supply for regional hospitals.

This year, Norfolk seeks to push its drops to the top. We have scheduled additional blood drive locations throughout city facilities, and we’re offering awesome incentives at every spot – from Tides or Festevents tickets to Chick-Fil-A coupons and Amazon.com gift cards – even a discount on tattoos.

We’re making a special request: give the gift of life in honor of our Mermaid’s 20th birthday. What better way to celebrate her anniversary? Each blood donation gift can save up to three lives!

Schedule your appointment now! Visit redcrossblood.org and enter NorfolkCity to find the Mayor’s Cup drive near you.
