Police Chief Larry D. Boone hosts "Guns Down" Movement through Community Gatherings

Are you concerned about gun violence affecting your community as much as we are? If so, Chief Larry Boone invites community members to participate and support a new Norfolk Police initiative called - Norfolk Police “Guns Down” Movement.

This summer Chief Boone will host four community gatherings throughout the City. He will be discussing the issues of gun violence, gun safety, and responsible gun ownership.

The “Guns Down” movement is the first of its kind in Norfolk and across the region. This community engagement is spearheaded by Chief Boone to increase the community's awareness about the hazards of gun violence through authentic engagement and outreach in a fun-filled family environment packed with music, fun, and opportunities for education, employment and hope.

The first gathering will be held on Sunday, June 30, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Huntersville Recreation Center located at 830 Goff Street. This event is free and open to the public.

We look forward to seeing you there.
