Local Author Fair Returns to Slover Library

Connect with local authors in-person and learn about the writing process

NORFOLK, VA—For the first time in three years, the Local Author Fair returns to Slover Library for an in-person event on Saturday, August 13, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Authors from across Hampton Roads are participating in the fair by showcasing their works from various genres, including children’s picture books, adult fiction and nonfiction, romance, mysteries, thrillers, short stories, and poetry.

Attendees are invited to connect with authors to learn more about their backgrounds, inspiration for writing, and experiences publishing their works. Two authors are presenting mini workshops:

Mini Workshop 1:
11:00 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.

“So, You’re Thinking About Writing a Book: The Good, the Bad, the Ugly, the Author’s Journey”

with Author Elizabeth Duncan-Hawker


Mini Workshop 2:
1:00 p.m. – 1:45 p.m.

“Start Writing, Keep Writing”

with author Alison Schoew from The Muse Writers’ Center


The Local Author Fair is a free event for all ages. Books will be available for purchase and signing by the authors, and those who attend will have a chance to win book bundle prizes. Registration is preferred though not required.
