This November, cozy up with a good book at Norfolk Public Library! We have many wonderful events lined up, including Homemade for the Holidays, where you can spread love and craft a gift from the heart. Native American Life Now...and Then

Saturday, Nov. 8 from 10 a.m. - noon

Join educators from the Eastern Division of the Chickahominy Indian Tribe at The Downtown Branch at Slover as they share an authentic display of artifacts, tools and other items made by Chickahominy Tribe members—that are still used today! Register at norfolk.libcal.com.

Author Chat and Paint

Tuesday, Nov. 18 from 3-5 p.m.

Local author Roze Worrell is doing a short reading and chat about her book, "Hearts: Finding Unexpected Signs of Hope, Comfort, and Joy." at Blyden Branch! After, you can customize a glass tumbler by painting your chosen life symbol(s). Two copies of the author’s book will be raffled to patrons in attendance. Register at norfolk.libcal.com.

Native American Heritage Month Celebration

Saturday, Nov. 22 from noon-2 p.m.

Celebrate Native American Heritage Month at Jordan-Newby Anchor Branch with a screening of Mankiller (2017, NR). This true story about Wilma Mankiller, an advocate for women and Native Americans, showcases how she defied all odds to become the Cherokee Nation's first female principal chief. Refreshments will be served!

Thrill Me Book Club

Tuesday, Nov. 25 from 3-4 p.m.

Check out this month's pick at Blyden Branch, "The Perfect Ruin" by Shanora Williams. In this captivating story, the author to investigates both the glamorous—and dark sides—of Miami. Nothing is what it seems in this twisted story when one wronged woman seeks to destroy the seemingly perfect life of one of the city’s most revered socialites! (Ages 16+)

Charmed Tassels: Earring Making Workshop

Saturday, Nov. 29 from 1-2 p.m.

Visit Richard A. Tucker Memorial and learn how to make two different types of tassels and combine them with charms to create your own earrings!
