When do I need a special event permit?
Special event permits are based on attendance and are initiated by either a Small Event Permit Application or a Large Event Permit Application submittal to the Office of Special Events.

A special event permit is required if ALL the following circumstances apply:

• Event is open to the public
• Event location requested is outdoor City owned public property

A special event permit is also required for all events, both open to the public or private, in the Downtown Improvement District (DID), on a street, sidewalk or parking lot Citywide.
