  1. Night of Philosophy and Ideas

    The Cultural Services of the French Embassy in the United States, Old Dominion University, and the Slover Library Foundation present an all-night marathon event of ideas, philosophy, music, art and much more. In cities all across five continents and now arriving in Norfolk, the Night of Ideas is a world-wide event that celebrates the stream of ideas between countries, cultures, topics, and generations. The 2020 edition of the Night of Ideas centers around the common theme “être vivant” or “being alive.” Guests will gather together to ask: What is being alive? What is our place in the living world? How does “Being Alive” impose us to take action?

  2. Dog + Yoga = DOGA

    January 26, 2020, 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM @ Elation Brewing

    Get down with adoptable dogs for Downward Dog at the first-ever Dog+Yoga=DOGA event from Norfolk Animal Care and Adoption Center, Yoga 108, and Elation Brewing. The event includes a full-length yoga session with instructor Annie VanHook. Then participants will paws to interact with adoptable dogs from the Norfolk Animal Care and Adoption Center. Stretch out with your heart center to unite with a fur-ever friend that can help you with all the dog poses every day. Beer and food will be available for purchase after noon. We will be sure you are not mistaken for a real tree during tree pose. Dogs will sit and namaste. Class size is limited to 30 humans, so register now on Eventbrite - just search DOGA. Only adoptable dogs from NACC are invited. Your donation of $10 in advance or $15 at the door will support Friends of NACC, a non-profit group that helps to pay for medical care, spaying and neutering, and adoption of the animals at NACC.

  3. Little Theatre of Norfolk presents "Peter and the Starcatcher"

    A young orphan and his mates are shipped off from Victorian England to a distant island ruled by the evil King Zarboff. They know nothing of the mysterious trunk in the captain's cabin, which contains a precious, otherworldly cargo. At sea, the boys are discovered by a precocious young girl named Molly, a Starcatcher-in-training who realizes that the trunk's precious cargo is starstuff, a celestial substance so powerful that it must never fall into the wrong hands. When the ship is taken over by pirates - led by the fearsome Black Stache, a villain determined to claim the trunk and its treasure for his own - the journey quickly becomes a thrilling adventure.
