On view through 01/08/21: M-Sat. 11am-7pm & Sun. 12-6pm. Marlowe Emerson uses acrylic & collage techniques to create large, abstract paintings. “Portuguese Playground” features work in a variety of media created in 2019 at the Buinho Creative Residency. The exhibition takes its title from an actual playground in Portugal, as well as the artist’s experience of playing with a variety of new materials & techniques. It also references the high tech “playground” Buinho has created. Marlowe holds a degree in French & Art History from Georgetown University. Her work has been shown in museums & galleries internationally, including the Art in Embassies program. Emerson teaches abstract painting at MOCA & works out of her home studio in Va. Beach.
