d'Art Center presents "Surface: Textures and Patterns in Artwork"2021-06-03T17:30:00Surface is an exhibition of artworks that highlights the use of textures and patterns in artworks from across the country. We want our patrons to be able to “feel” the textures in the work with their eyes, and to get lost in all the patterns!
The call reached 39 states. 218 artists submitted for a total of 781 submissions. d’Art’s Gallery Manager, and the juror selected 64 pieces from 60 artists from 23 states (9 Virginians)!
This is a juried exhibition, and was co-curated by gallery manager Amanda Bradley, and exhibition juror and artist, Jorge A. Saenz. Jorge also has a piece on display in the Surface Exhibition.

Chrysler Museum – Pier Luigi Nervi: Art and Science of Building2021-10-01T00:00:00This year marks the 50th anniversary of Norfolk’s greatest modern building: Scope Arena. Designed by renowned Italian architect Pier Luigi Nervi in collaboration with local architectural firm Williams and Tazewell, its soaring struts lift the dome and paradoxically let light in from below, not above as in traditional domed structures.
This exhibition will follow Nervi’s career as an architect in Italy through many projects, including airplane hangars, cathedrals, exhibit halls, and skyscrapers, giving visitors an understanding of the unique architectural achievement of Scope and its place in the history of modern architecture.

The Boys Choir of Hampton Roads Holiday Concert2021-12-23T19:00:00e Boys Choir of Hampton Roads (formerly Park Place Boys Choir) was organized in September 1997 as a resource for the boys in Park Place area of Norfolk, to expand their positive image through singing. The main purpose of the choir is to develop in each young singer a self-respect and respect for others based upon clearly stated and solidly proven values, while striving for excellence in academics and cultural personal pursuits.
The Boys Choir is honored to have had the opportunity to perform with the Virginia Symphony Orchestra as well as Af’ram Fest, Arts Within Reach, Jubilee on the James, M.L. King Memorial, and Nauticus to name just a few. The Choir is widely sought after and has traveled extensively throughout the United States.
