Virginia Stage Company’s Public Works Virginia will present Comedy of Errors to public outdoor playing spaces across Hampton Roads. This zany and unexpected adaptation of Shakespeare's play, adapted by Ryan Clemens (A Christmas Carol, Meet Mark Twain) and directed by Steve Pacek (The Legend of Georgia McBride) goes beyond the schtick to play with the concept of family and the power of belonging. The tour will be presented in public parks, outdoor venues, and The Wells Theatre on weekends during May 2021.

  5. Offsite Gallery opening reception: "Iconography" By Petya Evtimova-Ivanova

May 14, 2021, 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM @ Norfolk Arts, Offsite Gallery at MacArthur Center

Join us for an opening reception, May 14, 5-7pm. Exhibition on view through July 2, 2021. For her solo Offsite Gallery exhibition, Evtimova-Ivanova combines two oil painting series inspired by the Dobarsko Church in Bulgaria, housing 460 frescoes of the human figure and more than 30 women saints. Petya’s intent is not to reflect on religion, but to pay tribute to the contemporary women among us – powerful and striving to improve the world, yet feminine and fragile at their core. Reminiscent of old Orthodox icons, Iconography integrates gold leaf accents into portraits on wood. Potential Saints is a series of black and white portraits on canvas adorned with decorative elements and saints nimbus, like those found in old church frescoes. Petya received her MFA from St. Cyril and St. Methodius University, Bulgaria with a specialization in Fine Arts. Learn more at: petya-evtimova.com
