d'Art Center presents "Surface: Textures and Patterns in Artwork"2021-06-03T17:30:00Surface is an exhibition of artworks that highlights the use of textures and patterns in artworks from across the country. We want our patrons to be able to “feel” the textures in the work with their eyes, and to get lost in all the patterns!
The call reached 39 states. 218 artists submitted for a total of 781 submissions. d’Art’s Gallery Manager, and the juror selected 64 pieces from 60 artists from 23 states (9 Virginians)!
This is a juried exhibition, and was co-curated by gallery manager Amanda Bradley, and exhibition juror and artist, Jorge A. Saenz. Jorge also has a piece on display in the Surface Exhibition.

JokingJoe began his comedy career in 2002 at the Virginia House of Comedy, working with the likes of Eddie Griffith, Mike Epps, Sommore, Adele Givens, Monique, Arnez J, Nephew Tommy, Tony Rock, and more. He's performed at various night clubs and venues, including the Virginia Beach & Richmond Funnybone.
JokingJoe is also a community activist in the City Of Norfolk. He has been giving back to the community for 10 years during Easter, Back to School Drives, giving away turkeys for Thanksgiving, toys for Christmas, and traveling to VA state prisons to give motivational speeches.

The production is set in the Roaring Twenties and to go along with it, we’re turning the Plot in the NEON District into a weekend-long 1920s-themed party.
Learn the Charleston, take photos with costumed characters, join us for beer, music, food, and of course the production itself-ROMEO & JULIET!
Come as you are, or, dressed in your favorite 20s themed looks. Reserved seating only.
Romeo and Juliet is directed by the Emmy Nominated, Deborah Wallace (Blood on the Mountain, Gasland Part 2) and Brant Powell (That Sinking Feeling) and produced by the Push Comedy Theater's Brad McMurran and Sean Devereux
