  1. d'Art Center presents "Surface: Textures and Patterns in Artwork"

    Surface is an exhibition of artworks that highlights the use of textures and patterns in artworks from across the country. We want our patrons to be able to “feel” the textures in the work with their eyes, and to get lost in all the patterns! The call reached 39 states. 218 artists submitted for a total of 781 submissions. d’Art’s Gallery Manager, and the juror selected 64 pieces from 60 artists from 23 states (9 Virginians)! This is a juried exhibition, and was co-curated by gallery manager Amanda Bradley, and exhibition juror and artist, Jorge A. Saenz. Jorge also has a piece on display in the Surface Exhibition.

  2. Chrysler Museum – M.C. Escher: Infinite Variations

    The Chrysler Museum will present more than 150 works by M.C. Escher from the collection of Paul and Melinda Firos of Athens, Greece in M.C. Escher: Infinite Variations. The exhibition will showcase works that span Escher’s career, including the iconic Day and Night, in which two flocks of birds in flight blend into Holland’s landscape, and Ascending and Descending, a 1960 print of an impossible building with a staircase that mirrors a möbius strip. This comprehensive exhibition will trace the imagery that made Escher one of the world’s most recognized artists and feature the full range of media in which he worked, including woodcuts, lithographs, etchings, and even a lithography stone.

This year’s theme “Moments That Matter” encourages everyone to be present, and grateful for everyone and every moment. The festival includes national & local performing artists, with three stages, interactive arts, local arts & crafts vendors, dance & yoga, field games, and more!   1. Clean the Bay Day 2022

    Cleanup locations are available throughout Norfolk and will be assigned after registration. 

    In partnership with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, volunteer leaders host cleanups throughout Norfolk. The goal: Clean the Chesapeake Bay Watershed!
