Norfolk State University presents "Crowns of Glory: Ceremony, Culture, and Couture Through Caps, Coiffures, and Coverings"

This exhibition will feature artworks inspired by hair, head coverings, and hats. These are not just part of fashion but are culturally significant. They can signify heritage, religious affiliation, political views, and more. In this exhibition, the James Wise Gallery has invited artists to consider the racial, social, cultural, and political meanings of our "crowns."

d'Art Center presents "Vivid: A Juried National Exhibition of Vibrant, Bold, Loud, and Brilliant Artworks!"

The VIVID Exhibition features both 2D and 3D artworks from across the country in all mediums that are exceptionally vibrant, bold, loud, and/or brilliant in color! We want our patrons to experience an EXPLOSION of color as they enter this exhibit! This is a juried exhibition, and it was co-curated by gallery manager, Amanda Bradley, and exhibition juror, Rachel McCall. The call reached 41 states. 287 artists submitted for a total of 1,039 submissions. d’Art’s Gallery Manager and the juror selected 64 pieces from 62 artists from 25 states!

By the fall of 2022, Iran was in a state of turmoil due to widespread protests against government-enforced wearing of the hijab, a failing economy, an ineffective new president, and the looming succession of the country’s leader, Ayatollah Khamenei. Abroad, renewal of the Iran nuclear deal seemed doubtful and tensions remain high between Iran, Israel, and Arab states. Many Iranians have lost hope of a better future, and the country seems at a crossroads. How should the United States deal with it?

Prepare to be swept away by one of opera’s most tragic love stories. The tale of the stunning courtesan Violetta and the hopelessly romantic Alfredo is woven with some of the best-known music in the repertoire. La Traviata’s high points are matched with tears in the tragic end.

Great American Cleanup with Keep Norfolk Beautiful

The Great American Cleanup is a three-month outreach program aiming to raise awareness on environmental issues across the country through community service events. During this period, Keep Norfolk Beautiful, along with all Keep America Beautiful affiliates, will host events designed to create LITTER FREE cities, neighborhoods, and streets!
