Certification for WIC and E-WIC Benefits

Once you or your child is enrolled in the WIC Program, your child will be certified for one year using the criteria above and you will receive E-WIC benefits.  The Virginia WIC Program has transitioned to use of the Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) system for WIC participants. E-WIC is a benefit card system, which is similar to a debit card. The participant can use the E-WIC card to redeem their benefits at authorized WIC retail vendors.  Shopping is made easier for participants to make their food selections. The food benefits will not be changing with the new eWIC benefit card. The foods that you or your child receives will simply be transferred to an electronic benefit card. You may purchase one item or several items at one time. See the video here for the benefits of E-WIC.
