Commission for Persons with Disabilities
The commission serves in an advisory capacity to the Department of Human Services. The commission also assists persons with disabilities in achieving more independent and full lives, while promoting the needs of persons with disabilities; coordinating with and advising relevant agencies and organizations concerning the needs of persons with disabilities; and providing a focal point for input from persons with disabilities into the city’s decision making process, pursuant to Norfolk City Code section 2-303.

Membership Composition:

Fifteen (15) members appointed by the City Council, to include disabled citizens and representatives from employment training and placement services, relevant sectors of the medical establishment, building industry, business, and educational institutions.
