Norfolk Wetlands Board
This board shall preserve and prevent the despoliation and destruction of wetlands within the city. It has the power to prosecute all violations and issues permits for use or alteration of any wetlands in the city, pursuant to the Code of Virginia 28.2-1303 and the Norfolk City Code 49-1.

Membership Composition:

The seven (7) members are appointed by City Council and serve 5-year terms. Appointees must be residents of the city and shall hold no other public office in the city, except that they may be members of the planning commission members, directors of soil and water conservation boards, local erosion commissions, or the board of zoning appeals. A chairman is elected by the board and serves a term of one year with the possibility of self-succession.
