GRANBY STREET BRIDGE REHABILITATION

LOCATION
Lafayette River between E. 42nd Street and Willow Wood Drive (over Lafayette River)

PROJECT INFORMATION
This project will improve the condition of the Granby Street Bridge by repairing key structural components and protecting bridge elements from deterioration.

SCOPE OF WORK
  • New latex modified concrete deck overlay
  • Repair structural components
  • Seal and waterproof bridge
  • Replace new elastometric bearings and expansion joints
  • Reconstruct portions of roadway and sidewalk at bridge approaches

PROJECT STATUS
• Estimated construction start date: Spring 2019
• Estimated construction completion date: Summer 2020

PROJECT COST
6-7 million dollars (98% federally funded)
CONSTRUCTION IMPACTS
  • Lane closures will be required; at least one lane in each direction will be open at all times
  • One of the two existing sidewalks will be open at all times
  • The bike lane over the Granby Street Bridge will be temporarily closed during construction
