Martin A. Thomas, Jr., Vice Mayor
Martin A. Thomas, Jr. was elected to represent Ward 1 on August 23, 2016 and was elected Vice Mayor in July 2018. 

Mr. Thomas was born in Norfolk and graduated from Catholic High School in Virginia Beach in 1998.  He received his bachelor’s degree in Public and Urban Affairs from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 2002 and graduated from the T.C. Williams School of Law in 2006.  

Mr. Thomas is a partner at the Decker Law Firm in downtown Norfolk where he has litigated personal injury cases since 2006.  He served on the Norfolk Planning Commission from April 2011 - August 2016 and on the Norfolk Architectural Review Board from April 2014 - August 2016.  

He resides with his wife, Maggie, and their two sons in the Wards Corner area of Norfolk.  

Mr. Thomas presently serves on the Peter Decker Children’s Charity Board and is a member of the Wards Corner Civic League.  He is a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #3548 in Ocean View, the Wards Corner Optimist Club, and is a founding member of Wards Corner Now.
