About the Neighborhood Leadership Cohort

What does the future of Norfolk’s civic engagement look like?  Will it have robust civic leagues and neighborhood groups engaging diverse residents at every stage of life? Will it have residents practicing neighborliness and having fun together? Will it have neighborhood leaders working closely with elected officials to truly advocate community aspirations?  There is only one way to be sure: step forward and be a positive ripple maker yourself.  Join Norfolk’s Department of Neighborhood Services’ Neighborhood Leadership Cohort. The cohort supports civic participation by providing skills, resources, and connections for resident leaders to take responsibility for improving their community.

The cohort is open to any Norfolk resident age 14 and above who is active in neighborhood life and interested in improving their leadership skills. Neighborhood Services is aiming for a cohort of 30 diverse residents. Preference will be given to those living in Norfolk, but those involved in Norfolk through a non-profit or business are not automatically excluded.
