Project News
The next public meeting will take place on February 9th at 7:00pm as part of the second phase of public outreach to gather further input from the community on the proposed safety enhancements along Hampton Blvd.

Location: The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd – 7400 Hampton Blvd
During the first phase of public outreach, the project team held two public meetings and distributed an online survey to give an overview of the project and gather input from residents on transportation and safety needs along Hampton Blvd, as well as feedback on potential corridor improvements.

The next steps for this safety study are:
- Hold additional meetings to gather feedback from residents
- Finalize the list of potential improvements for evaluation
- Conduct future traffic operations and safety analysis of alternatives
- Develop planning-level cost estimates

Project Information
In response to requests from the residents, the City of Norfolk is conducting a study of the Hampton Boulevard corridor from the northern edge of the Lafayette River Bridge to W. Little Creek Rd to evaluate options to improve traffic operations and safety along the corridor. This study will serve to identify potential improvements to address speeds and crashes along this section of Hampton Boulevard.

Public Outreach
The first round of public outreach provides an opportunity for community members to engage with the project team to share concerns, ideas, and priorities on how transportation and safety can be improved along the corridor.
Round 1:
- Meadowbrook civic league meeting & survey: January 13, 2025
- Lockhaven Civic League meeting & survey: April 8, 2025
The second round presents a summary of resident feedback and ideas gathered from the first round of public outreach. It also includes proposed safety enhancements for additional community input, helping to finalize recommendations that City staff can use when applying for funding for project implementation.

- Joint Civic League meeting: February 9, 2026
