[ARCHIVED] Police searching for man who entered an elementary school, claiming to be an undercover officer

NORFOLK, Va. – A Norfolk Elementary was placed on a brief lockdown Friday morning after a man entered the school claiming to an undercover police officer.

The incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. at Mary Calcott Elementary, located at 137 E. Westmont Avenue.

Detectives say the man entered the school and told school staff that he was an undercover officer and needed to conduct a security check. Staff members questioned him, he ran from the school.

The police impersonator is described as a black man, about 6’0” tall, in his 40s wearing a blue plaid shirt and khaki pants.
Police need the public’s assistance in identifying the man captured on the surveillance video at the school. If anyone

Norfolk police officers were detail to school during student drop off, 9 a.m., to ensure the man did not return.

There were no injuries reported, and no other information is available for release at this time.
