[ARCHIVED] Two men rob person after agreeing on a cell phone purchase on OfferUP

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Norfolk police are looking for two men, seen in these surveillance photos, who robbed a man after agreeing to purchase a cell phone on the app OfferUP.  

Around 8:20 p.m. Wednesday night police responded to an individual robbery that just occurred in the 400 block of Monticello Avenue.  When police arrived, the victim told them that he met two men at the location who agreed to purchase his cell phone on the app OfferUP.
 
When the suspects arrived at the location, they took the cell phone and ran. The victim attempted to chase the suspects; however, after one of the suspects pointed a gun, the victim stopped. 

Both suspects are described as black men in their 20’s. One man was last seen wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and white shoes. The other man was wearing a black and white Oakland Raiders hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and white shoes. 

There were no injuries reported.

Last spring, Norfolk police created an "E-Commerce Exchange Zone” at each patrol division and encourage community members to use the lobby or reserved locations when meeting people to complete their online purchases and transactions.

Exchanges zones are under video surveillance 24-hours a day. This service is free requires no prior authorization or police response.

    Lobby Open Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (Closed Holidays)
