[ARCHIVED] Man in critical condition after being struck by a SUV on Granby Street

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Police are investigating a motor vehicle accident that has left a pedestrian in critical condition. 

Around 4:45 p.m. police and fire-rescue were dispatched to the intersection of Granby Street and Plume Street in downtown Norfolk for a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian. When first responders arrived, they found an adult man lying in the roadway suffering with severe injuries. The man was transported in critical condition to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. 

The preliminary investigation has revealed the driver of a Honda SUV lost control of his car and struck the man as he was standing outside a restaurant. Police took the adult driver into custody shortly after the incident and charges are pending.  

The Norfolk police traffic fatality team is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and have not released any additional details at this time.
