[ARCHIVED] Pedestrian stuck by moving truck dies at hospital

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – The pedestrian struck by a large moving truck Monday night has dies at the hospital from his injuries sustained in the crash.

Shortly after 9:10 p.m., first responders were called to the 500 block of North Military Highway for a motor vehicle accident with injuries involving a pedestrian.

The pedestrian was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for treatment; however, he died shortly after arrival.

The man’s identity will be released once his family has been notified.

The preliminary investigation has revealed the man attempted to cross traffic on North Military Highway and was stuck by a large moving truck that was traveling northbound.

The driver of the truck stayed on scene and was not injured during the crash.

The Norfolk Police Traffic Fatality Team is continuing to investigate this deadly crash. Upon completion of the investigation, the findings will be turned over to the Office of the Norfolk Commonwealth’s Attorney for review.

There were no other injuries reported, and no other vehicles involved.
