[ARCHIVED] Norfolk Recreation, Parks & Open Space Hosts Virtual Summer Camp Tour

NORFOLK, VA – Norfolk Recreation, Parks & Open Space (RPOS) is creating virtual programming for Norfolk residents. Through a partnership with the Aviation Institute of Maintenance (AIM), students can view the new 100,000 sq. ft. Norfolk campus through an up-close and personal video tour.

Last year, AIM provided RPOS summer camp participants an in-person tour and a series of STEM-focused programs at the recreation centers. Due to the pandemic, the two organizations partnered to provide a virtual facility tour and free STEM activities for youth and their families to complete while at home.

RPOS is providing a limited number of free at-home STEM activities and supplies for youth ages 5 – 12 and their families. For more information on how to receive these free STEM activities, please call Lambert’s Point Community Center at (757) 423-1088 or email Ashley Jones at ashley.jones@norfolk.gov.

Aviation Institute of Maintenance (AIM) is a network of aviation maintenance schools with campuses coast-to-coast in the United States. AIM students are trained to meet the increasing global demand of commercial, cargo, corporate and private aviation employers.  Tim Murray, AIM Director of Education, guides Jacqui Johnson, RPOS Division Head of Recreation Programs, on a detailed tour of the resources AIM has to offer its students.

Visit www.FixJetsNorfolk.com to view the tour.

AIM Norfolk is located at 2329 E. Little Creek Road and can be reached at (757) 363-2121, or by visiting AviationMaintenance.edu.
