NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Together, Norfolk Police and the U.S. Marshals have arrested a man wanted in connection with a double shooting that happened over the weekend.
On September 3, 2023, around 12:55 a.m., Officers responded to the 700 block of Church Street for the report of two gunshot victims. When police arrived, they found a woman and a 51-year-old man who were both suffering from gunshot wounds.
The woman, later identified as Precious L. McClendon, 24, was pronounced dead at the scene. The man was taken to the hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
As a result of their investigation, detectives have charged Curtis G. Smith, 41, with second-degree murder, malicious wounding, and two counts of use of firearm.
Smith was taken into custody on September 5th in the 4500 block of W. Military Highway in the City of Chesapeake.
He is currently being held without bond.
