NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – A man was taken into custody by police following a barricade situation on Janet Drive Sunday afternoon.
On June 9, 2024, around 1:00 p.m. officers were called to a home in the 5200 block of Janet Drive for the report of a person with a weapon. When Officers arrived, it was determined the man was experiencing a mental health crisis.
As a result, the Hostage/Crisis Negotiation Team and Special Operations Team responded to the scene, and following a period of negotiations the man was taken into custody by police shortly before 4:15 p.m.
The man was transported to the hospital to receive medical treatment.
No injuries were reported during this incident.
