Whether you’re casually taking note of your surroundings or travelling in search of birds to add to your checklist, people of all ages can enjoy birdwatching!
A Christmas Bird Count (CBC) is a day-long census of bird populations. Each Christmas season from December 14 to January 5, hundreds of birders in Virginia participate in CBCs conducted throughout the state.
Join the Norfolk Park Rangers at Azalea Acres Neighborhood Park for Birding with a Ranger on December 31 as we will be participating in our local CBC! Learn about birds coming through the park and how to identify them by sight and sound. We will spend about an hour walking leisurely though the park looking for warblers, woodpeckers, wading birds, and anything else that sparks our curiosity!
Bring your own binoculars or borrow from our limited supply. The trail is mostly flat, but unpaved. Dress for the weather; closed-toe shoes are recommended. All ages welcome!
Azalea Acres Neighborhood Park is located at 5860 Townley Ave.
