[ARCHIVED] City of Norfolk Facilities Update Following Winter Storm

NORFOLK, Va. – Nauticus, MacArthur Memorial and Norfolk Animal Care Center will return to normal Saturday operations on Feb. 22. Norfolk Botanical Garden will have a delayed opening on Saturday at 11 a.m. SevenVenues’ events tonight and this weekend will go on as planned.

Additionally, the following facilities will reopen on Saturday for normal operating hours:


·       Mary D. Pretlow Anchor Branch Library

·       Jordan-Newby Anchor Branch Library

·       Richard A. Tucker Anchor Branch Library

·       The Slover

·       Berkley Community Center

·       East Ocean View Community Center

·       Huntersville Community Center

·       Lambert’s Point Community Center

·       Norfolk Wellness & Fitness Center

·       Norview Community Center

·       Park Place Multi-Services Center

·       Titustown Community Center


League basketball games were previously rescheduled and will not take place on Saturday, Feb. 22. For any questions regarding league basketball, contact the Athletics Division at (757) 823-4304.

The Virginia Zoo will remain closed until Monday, Feb. 24.

Waste Management and recycling routes for Thursday, Feb. 20, will be collected on Saturday, Feb. 22, while routes for Friday, Feb. 21, will be collected on Monday, Feb. 24. All bulk and yard waste collections were cancelled this week and will resume next week.

Street parking downtown along Boush St., Granby St., Main St. and Waterside Dr. has been removed until Saturday, Feb. 22, at 1 p.m. to allow for plowing operations. The York Street Garage and Brambleton Lot will remain open until 9 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22, for residents who need parking downtown.

Residents who find anyone in need of shelter should call the police non-emergency number, (757) 441-5610. Public Safety crews will work with Norfolk Community Services Board and partners to find them shelter.
