[ARCHIVED] Afro MANIA Ghana: A Cultural Experience

The Tidewater African Cultural Alliance and the Tema Committee of the Norfolk Sister City Association present Afro MANIA Ghana: A Cultural Experience!

The event includes cultural presentations of dance and drumming, and fashion representing various regions of Ghana. Performers and presenters include TACA’s Dance Ensemble & Drummers; Norfolk State University (NSU) Percussion Instructor Ricky Micou with local Ghanaian Frederick Ainoo; Dance Instructor Stephany Ursula Yamoah, Artistic Director, National Dance Ensemble of Ghana; and Rita Addico Cohen, Ghanaian Storyteller/Performer Artist.

The event is March 8 at Attucks Theatre, 1010 Church St.

It begins at noon with interactive workshops such as: 

  1. Dancing

  2. Drumming

  3. Storytelling 

  4. Crafts

There will also be a chance to get a taste of delicious, authentic Ghanaian cuisine from Yendidi Restaurant.

This event is made possible with an Arts Equity grant from the Norfolk ARTS Commission.
