NORFOLK, Va. – The City of Norfolk’s government offices, including libraries, The Slover and recreation centers, will close on May 26 in observance of Memorial Day. The closures include the Norfolk Courthouse, Offices of the Commissioner of the Revenue and City Treasurer and Norfolk Animal Care Center. Regular office hours will resume on May 27.
Requests for bulk waste collection on May 27 must be made before 3 p.m. on May 23. To schedule bulk waste collection, please use the MyNorfolk mobile app, MyNorfolk online portal or call Norfolk Cares at (757) 664-6510.
Norfolk beach lifeguards begin duty at Community Beach Park (700 E. Ocean View Ave.) and Ocean View Beach Park (100 W. Ocean View Ave.) on May 24 and will be on duty every day from noon to 6 p.m. through Sept. 1 (Labor Day). Sarah Constant Beach Park (300 W. Ocean View Ave.) will not have beach lifeguards on duty. Patrons swim at their own risk.
