On 08/20/2014, around 10:00 A.M., a Norfolk Humane Officer was at the Animal Control Center located at 5585 Saber Road, assisting a citizen in the voluntary surrender of four pit bulls who attacked another dog on 08/19/2014. As the owner opened his car door, one of the dogs tried to run away. The Humane Officer was able to leash the dog, however, the dog spun around and bit the Humane Officer in the face and the leg. The Humane Officer was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Charges for “Dangerous Dogs, and Nuisance Animals” are pending against the owner for both the 08/19/2014 and 08/20/2014 attacks.
