On 08/25/2014, around 11:25 A.M., a call was received in the Emergency Communications Center for a motor vehicle accident with injuries, at the intersection of Carolina Avenue and Colonial Avenue. Norfolk Police and Fire Rescue responded and discovered that a van was overturned. Norfolk Fire Rescue extracted an adult male passenger from the van, and he and the adult male driver were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The two men were the only people in the van at the time of the crash. The other vehicle involved, was blue four door Volkswagen. The driver of the Volkswagen, an adult female, was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. She was the only occupant in the vehicle. Investigation reveals that the driver of the Volkswagen was travelling west on Carolina Avenue, apparently ran the stop sign and struck the van who was travelling south on Colonial Avenue. The driver of the Volkswagen has been cited with Fail to Obey a Stop Sign.
