[ARCHIVED] Commercial Robbery Suspect Wanted

On 08/26/2014, around 8:20 P.M., a call was received in the Norfolk Communications Center for an attempted commercial robbery at the Chinatown Restaurant located at 720 Church Street. An employee stated that a middle-aged black male suspect entered the business and produced a note demanding money and implying a weapon. The employee did not give the suspect any money. The suspect then exited the business and walked into the Subway located at 720 Church Street, and gave the employee the same note demanding money. The employee complied, and as the suspect was walking out, he was briefly detained by a concerned citizen, but was able to run away. Norfolk Detectives responded, and after an investigation, the suspect has been identified as 42-year-old Bruce J. Howland of the 1100 block of Holt Street. Bruce is currently wanted for Robbery and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony. No one was injured during either incident.

Anyone who knows the whereabouts of Bruce Howland, are encouraged to call the Crime Line at 1-888-Lock-U-UP (1-888-562-5887). Any information that leads to an arrest can earn a reward of up to $1,000
