[ARCHIVED] Fatal Traffic Accident in Norfolk

On September 14, 2014, shortly before 10:00 p.m., the Norfolk Emergency Communications Center received a call for a traffic accident involving a single vehicle in the 200 block of W. Brambleton Avenue. Police and Fire Rescue arrived to the scene and discovered a single occupant in a sports utility vehicle. The driver was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, and pronounced deceased shortly thereafter. The Norfolk Traffic Fatality Team is currently on scene conducting the investigation. Both east and westbound lanes in the 200 block of W. Brambleton Avenue are currently closed. They will remain closed until the accident scene is processed and cleared. At this time, it is unknown what caused the accident to occur. The Medical Examiner's Office will determine an exact cause of death, and the identification of the deceased will not be released until next of kin has been notified.
