[ARCHIVED] Police Make an Arrest in ODU Shooting

UPDATE – 10/13/2014. Detectives have arrested 25-year-old Roy M. Atkins of the 100 block of Tyler Avenue in Newport News, and have charged him with “Malicious Wounding” and “Use of Firearm in Commission of a Felony.” Roy was arrested in the City of Williamsburg with the assistance of Williamsburg Police and Norfolk Police Fugitive Squad. He is currently held in Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail, awaiting extradition to Norfolk.

Previous Release:
Around 1:10 am, on Saturday September 20, 2014, police were called to the 4200 block of Killam Avenue for report of a woman being shot. Norfolk Police and Fire Rescue responded and the woman was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound. At this time, the only suspect information is that of a black male who is in his 20’s.
