A 17-year-old Norview High School student was taken into custody and charged with several criminal offenses following an incident that occurred inside the high school early this morning. Shortly before 9:00 am, the student refused to follow standard school safety procedures and attempted to bypass metal detectors near the front entrance of Norview High School. The teen then became combative with school security guards and verbally threatened to bomb or burn the school. Security guards pepper spayed the teen, in order to take him into custody. Norfolk Police have charged the 17-year-old with two counts of assault and battery, one count of disorderly conduct, and one count of felonious threaten to bomb or burn. As a result of being pepper sprayed, the teen was treated on the scene by Norfolk Fire Rescue prior to being transported to Juvenile Intake.
