Yesterday evening shortly before 7:30 pm, a 41-year-old man was struck by a vehicle in the 1000 block of Brambleton Avenue. The man was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for his injuries sustained in the accident, where he is currently listed in critical condition. The preliminary investigation has determined the man stepped into the roadway and was incidentally struck by a 2003 Mitsubishi traveling eastbound. The driver and vehicle stayed at the scene for police arrival. There was no indication of the driver being impaired and speed does not appear to have been a factor. Charges have not been filed against the driver at this time, and the Norfolk Traffic Unit is currently leading the investigation.
